Anuenue Playground Maintenance DayWHEN: Saturday, November 12, 2005 starting at 9 AM Anuenue playground again needs some volunteer attention. Mike Krauss' Tree Works delivered us two loads of nice eucalyptus chips on Monday so I have scheduled a work day to get the chips spread in the baby swing area. That is really the only place in the playground that needs work. Since spraying the weeds once a month is keeping them under control (I do it at 7 am on a Sunday when no one is around) I would like to cut off the exposed portions of the weed control barrier. It was kicked up only a few weeks after the last time we worked so hard to get it re-buried, that I think just cutting off the exposed portions will be fine. Then we need to wheel in the chips and spread them around. I have alerted the maintenance staff of the upcoming event and posted laminated posters in the playground. I will replace them if they disappear. Please bring your children and inform other parents who use the playground, as children should be aware that they have to help keep this marvelous place nice. Although the County workers are doing a better job of maintaining the shrubbery, they do not maintain the playground, nor even pick up the rubbish. They will call my husband if something is broken or goes missing, and he has been able to put it to rights again. TOOLS NEEDED: Wheelbarrows, shovels, rakes, sturdy scissors or knives to cut the ground cover, gloves, your own snacks or beverages. I will bring over from the Nature Park some shovels and rakes and a couple of wheelbarrows, but the more we have available the faster the job will get done. For further information or to commit your ohana to this community workday (it really shouldn't take more than 2 hours) call Arlene Block at 885-4753, or cell 895-5086 or email at arleneblock@prodigy.net. |
